Regular Assessment for Continuous Achievement

We meet and mark milestones every day. Whether it's a sleepover at a friend's house, the first big splash toward learning to swim, or getting a learner's permit, these “badges” of experience help to shape who we are and tell us where we are at any given moment. They help us gauge if we're ready for the next step. We don't see attempts at finger painting or shooting a basketball into a hoop as a one-time-only opportunity. We understand that new things sometimes take more than a couple attempts to master. These efforts are a sign of a work in progress.

At HMH®, we look at school-administered assessment the same way we look at other means of assessing progress in our lives. We design resources to help you measure both long-term gains and immediate, topic-related retention. We can help you ensure that opportunities for gathering information aren't missed along the way, and help you make the most of that data. We can help you check on what has progressed, and what is in progress. Because at the end of the day, there is no end of the day. It's about what's next—the next lesson, the next milestone, the next achievement—for preparing our students for success in college, career, and civic life.

Browse this site to find out how HMH assessments can support learning and how together, we work in progress.

Our assessments:

  • Inform Instruction
  • Monitor Progress
  • Prepare Students

Inform, Monitor, and Prepare with HMH Assessments

From daily touch points to more structured quarterly pull ups, HMH assessments are strategically positioned within the academic year to help you accurately gauge your students' progress. To help you understand how they work together, we've organized our individual assessment items around three key objectives:
