Participants will learn how to integrate various sources such as graphic novels and free media resources to enrich and expand discussions of Hurricane Katrina. Don Brown will speak about his research behind his graphic novel Drowned City: Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans. Furthermore, teachers will be provided with specific examples and tips on how to engage students in this conversation of human rights and sustainability. Each participant will receive a copy of Drowned City: Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans, as well as free resources, such as Current Events, HISTORY videos and Channel One News.
